Things to see. Simply put? Each moment.
The most important thing to see, in our humble opinion, while on your vacation is your own inner world. It is our intention to provide you with the outer things, like a comfortable place to stay, beautiful views and a Greek experience so that you are able to take some time to turn inwards, dust off and rekindle, perhaps, some of those neglected dreams in your heart.
The other fun and interesting thing to do on Tuesday mornings is to take a trip to Ierissos for the farmers market (Laiki). If you are looking to feel like a local, then this is one thing you don’t want to miss. There is nothing spectacular about it, except for its commonality. Each Tuesday the villagers gather their hand-pulled carts, chat on the ferry on their way to Tripiti, take the bus to Ierissos and shop for the week.
There isn’t very much happening here. We do have a small cultural center with some island history that is on the main square just opposite the church. It’s kind of neat to look through that and gives you a feel of the island lifestyle before TV and Internet.
A trip around Mt. Athos on the ferryboat called “Athos” is a way to steal a glimpse into the world of this Byzantine monastic peninsula. The ferry leaves around 9am each morning and returns in the afternoon around 2pm.
